Kaufman, Betty (Marriage - Mar. 1950)

Betty Kaufman, age 14, a freshman in Colby High School and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kaufman who operate Fred and Ann’s tavern between Colby and Unity, and James Brunkhorst of Unity ran away and were married in Arkansas. The bride wired her parents from Tennessee to that effect.

The girl was last seen when she boarded a bus for the Colby High School Monday morning, and, when she did not return home, her parents became anxious and notified Marathon county police authorities to be on the alert for the girl.
